NOTE:  I have instructions for cooking this Beef Stroganoff in the oven or in a crock pot.  I would recommend cooking it in a crock pot.  The beef will be so much more tender than cooking it in the oven.

1  (10 ¾ oz)  98% fat-free cream of mushroom soup

2- 3  cans (4 oz. each) mushrooms – fresh can also be used

½ cup apple juice

1 envelope dry onion soup mix

1 package brown gravy mix (8 tsp.)

Mix mushroom soup, mushrooms, apple juice, dry onion soup mix and brown gravy mix in a crock pot or large bowl.      Stir until totally combined.

Add beef chunks and onions.

2 – 3 pounds stew meat, cubed *  Note:  Check the prices on your meat.  Sometimes it is cheaper to buy a roast and cut it up rather than buying stew meat.

1 small onion, sliced and separated into rings

If cooking in the oven: Put all ingredients in a 9 x 13 pan.  Cover tightly with foil.

Bake at 300 degrees for 3 – 4  hours.  Do not peek inside during cooking.  Be careful when removing the foil, as steam will escape.

CROCK POT:  Cook on low heat 5-6 hours.

Serve over noodles or rice.
