Filoni Bread (French Bread)

March 4, 2012

You will absolutely LOVE this French bread!!  It is the BEST EVER !!!!  If you are ever in my neck of the woods, stop by and pick up a few loaves.  I purchase it at The Water Outlet  – they also sell bread in Riverton, Utah.  (12600 South and 2700 West – behind the Maverick)

This Filoni bread is par-baked when you buy it.  There are two ways to finish cooking the bread.

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Place the loaf on a cookie sheet and heat for 7 – 10 minutes.  Remove from oven and enjoy!

2) When you get home, put the bread in your freezer.  It is a good idea to buy a couple of loaves to have on-hand.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Place frozen loaf on a cookie sheet and into the oven for 15 minutes.  Remove the loaf from the oven and let it “rest” for 15 minutes.  This allows the bread to continue cooking on the inside.  The inside will be soft and chewy and the outside will be crisp and warm.  It is delicious to just slice and eat as is, like the picture at the top.

We also like slicing it, spreading a little butter on it, sprinkling it with Johnny’s Garlic Spread and then sprinkling a little grated parmesan cheese on the top.  Toast it under the broiler for a few minutes. and enjoy!

Weight Watchers:  About 3 PointsPlus for the plain bread (1 oz. = 2 points) but depends on how thick you slice it.  Add an extra point for the cheese.
